Positano, Italy

WHAT A DREAM. For those of you who don't know, Positano is a cliffside town on southern Italy's Amalfi Coast. This was the destination that I wanted to spend my 30th birthday, we stayed here for 3 days. Positano was breathtaking, the people were so friendly, the food was phenomenal, the service was great, I seriously cannot think of one negative thing about this place. It was my dream vacation. I went with my boyfriend and we didn't really have any plans, we just winged it. We also went during the middle of April during their off season so it was not that crowded and we lucked out with the sun! Keep reading to check out our weekend!

First of all, in order to get to Positano, you need to fly into the Naples Airport. Then it's about an hour and half drive to Positano. I used a shuttle bus called Curreri Viaggi, they pick you up and will drop you off at the Sorrento Train Station. It was about $35 a person with Curreri Viaggi, you just have to make sure you pick a time that works with your flight. We used this option coming back from Positano. Another option is to hire a private car, which is what we did when we landed because our flight landed late at night so we couldn't catch the shuttle bus, we used Naples Airport Transfers and a Mercedes van came to pick us up and take us to the hotel, this option was $107 total. If you have a lot of luggage and a few people, I would suggest the private car because of the convenience, also you can split the fare and there is room for your luggage. If you only have a carry-on and you want the most cost effective, I would go with the shuttle bus.

Out of all the hotels, we chose to stay at the Hotel Marincanto. I picked this hotel mainly because it was the only hotel with it's own private stairs to the beach. Also, the hotel's view was just epic, there's an infinity pool, most of the rooms come with a balcony, and breakfast was included. I was in love with all of the little details of this hotel.

Pictured above is the view from the hotel balcony, you really can't beat it! I loved waking up to this. There are also lounge chairs for hotel guests to enjoy with complimentary towels and drink service. It was also a great place to just hang out at night, the cliffs of Positano light up and it's just gorgeous.

Pictured above is the private stairway to the beach, there's a bar when you get to the bottom and then around the corner is the beach. There are also cute lemon trees all over the hotel property. Also, pictured is the hotel infinity pool that overlooks the cliffs.

I just can't get over the balcony views of this hotel, they were out of this world. I would highly recommend this hotel just for the views if anything. It was seriously worth every penny spent!

The breakfast was included with our stay, you can either eat indoors or outdoors. The food is buffet style and was very good. The outdoor area was very intimate and eating breakfast outdoors was probably my favorite meal of the day.

The streets of Positano are very narrow and are filled with restaurants, bakeries, clothing shops, and handmade ceramic artisan shops. The shops are open until sunset but the restaurants are open pretty late. If you have the funds, I would highly recommend renting a Vespa or a small car so that you can cruise along the cliffs!

The best cannoli I have ever had was at the Collina Postano Bakery. They also had gelato and a ton of other Italian pastries. It's also a wine bar! This place was so good, we had to come here twice. I got the regular cannoli and the pistachio cannoli, both are bomb!

The streets of Positano are just so cute. Everything is so well kept and the streets are so clean! If you ever do come to Positano, make sure to pack an extra empty suitcase to buy stuff and take it home, especially if you are into home decor and ceramics!

My favorite part of Positano was of course the beach! We went down to the beach and rented some beach chairs to chill in, they cost about $15 euro a chair for the entire day. There's also a changing station and a bar for drinks! Grab a pizza and a Peroni and you're set!

We wanted to eat beachfront so we went to Restaurant L'incanto. There's indoor and outdoor seating and the outdoor is on the beach. The food there was so good. I would highly recommend any dish with buffalo mozzarella!

Finally, it was time to say goodbye. Ugh, I was so sad to leave I almost shed a tear. Positano really is a dream boat, probably one of my favorite places on Earth. I would definitely go back and explore Capri next time! I would highly recommend visiting here 10/10.
