Dublin, Ireland

I was so pleasantly surprised by Dublin! The plan was to stay in Dublin for 3 days in our 10 day Eurotrip for my 30th birthday in April. We decided to stay in the city and explore for one of the days and then for the second day go cross country west and visit the Cliffs of Moher. It was such a perfect itinerary, we were able to really get the full experience of Ireland going cross country from East Ireland to West Ireland. Keep reading to check out my itinerary! Hoping to inspire you to visit this amazing place.

Day 1: We arrived and checked into our Airbnb! Our main objective of this trip was to drink and hang out on the streets of Dublin so we decided to get an airbnb in the Temple Bar District. It was super convenient to go out and have a short walk back to your airbnb. I highly recommend staying in that area!

Dinner at Quays Irish Restaurant: This restaurant is located in the Temple Bar District. We ordered Irish Coffees (a must!) and bangers & mash. The portions are big here so it helps to share and try different things! The Irish Coffee was delicious, it had a thick cream on top and the bangers & mash was phenomenal.

Drinks at the Famous Temple Bar: I am sure you have seen this place all over Instagram, but it lives up to the hype! There was a live band, a huge outdoor area, and little pockets where people can hang out. I loved this bar so much and it was so much fun. Make sure to order a Guinness and some Jameson shots. The Guinness on draft was honestly the best pour and taste ever!

Drinks at The Old Storehouse: This bar is located close to the Temple bar. By the time we got to the second bar, I will admit I was a bit inebriated and did not take any pictures. But it was such a cool bar with another live band and great atmosphere. There's also a place to get fish and chips right next to this bar for those late night munchies!

Day 2: We bought a one-day tour on TripAdvisor to take us to the Cliffs of Moher. It included a trip to a monastery, the Cliffs of Moher, and a visit to a harbour city called Galway. The bus meets you in Dublin at around 7am and drives you cross country, then the bus drops you back off in Dublin at 5pm. The whole drive was just gorgeous, once you leave Dublin, you get a real feel for Ireland with lush green fields, sheep, horses, and farm homes with well kept yards.

Visit the Kilmacduagh Monastery: On the way to the Cliffs of Moher, we stopped at this 800 year old monastery. It boasts that it has the largest tower in Ireland. There was huge green fields and the monastery had some tombstones as well as a ton of the old ruins.

Arrive at the Cliffs of Moher: I still get chills thinking about this breathtaking place! The picture above was taken with my boyfriend's drone! You basically get to walk on the edge of these cliffs. Literally every where you turn and every couple feet you walk down was another epic view. I can't stress enough how beautiful this place was. It gets a bit rainy and windy in April so we really lucked out on the weather and got tons of sun. Make sure to pack a light jacket because it does get windy there!

Visit Galway: This was such a cute little town full of awesome restaurants and shops! I could've easily spent all day here. I loved it so much. We had lunch here at a random restaurant and everything we ordered was amazing. This little town also had a ton of places for dessert!

Day 3: We only had half a day before our flight to Italy so we decided to hang around Dublin before our flight. We woke up and had an appetite for a legit Irish breakfast!

Breakfast at Kingfisher Restaurant: We ordered the Full Irish Breakfast, it was the most delicious breakfast ever! Came with 2 sausages, bacon, eggs, grilled mushrooms, baked beans, black pudding, white pudding, and rosemary diced potatoes and toast.

Drinks at Church Bar: An old church built in 1702 converted to a bar. At night, it turns into a club! It was such a cool place and had so much history. We got one last Irish coffee before our flight. We didn't get a chance to visit the club at night but next time I would totally check it out!

One last Guinness at The Confession Box: Such a cool local bar. There was a bar downstairs and a cute hang out area upstairs. We just couldn't leave Dublin without drinking one more Guinness. It was so tasty!

After drinks, we went shopping for a bit and then it was time to head to the Dublin airport for our next leg of our Eurotrip -- Positano, Italy!

*Dublin Airport Tip: If you have toiletries in your carry-on luggage, make sure to put them in a ziploc bag or they will make you open your suitcase at security and take them all out and put them in a ziploc bag (they provide), they also will only allow you to carry-on as many toiletries that fit in one ziploc bag, no more.
